Nancy L Cole, 75, of Danville, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at the Hawthorne Inn in Danville. She was born December 7, 1933 in Mattoon, IL the daughter of Richard Runion and Irma Louis (Floyd) Wilder. A loving mother and grandmother she is survived by one daughter: Susan (Rex) Modglin; one son: David Cole, both of Danville; one very special granddaughter: Jacqueline Cole FNPRN of Danville; five grandsons: Robert (Brook) Reed of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Dustin and Christopher Cole, Blake Notardonato all of Danville, Mitchel and Nicholas Cole of San Diego, California; five great grandchildren; one brother: Floyd Duane (Dee) Wilder of Catlin; a wonderful daughter-in-law: Alicia Cole Burns of San Diego, California; and a sister-in-law: Marilyn Wilder of Morris, IL. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, one son: Donald Cole, and one brother: Richard Wilder. A lifetime resident of Danville, she graduated from Danville High School in 1951. Nancy was a member of Vermilion Heights Christian Church. She organized the TOPS Club in Danville and was elected to the National Board of Directors of TOPS Inc. She worked as a bookkeeper at the YWCA then moved on to become administrative assistant of the Home Health Aide Project for CRIS Senior Citizens Center. Nancy finished her working career as the director of the Danville Township Community Development Department in charge of administrating water lines and rehab housing grants for the elderly and for low-income families. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, crocheting gifts, and spending time with good friends and always family. God saw that she was getting tired, and a cure was not to be. Therefore, he put his arms around her and whispered come with me. In the tears, we watched her suffer, and saw her fade away. Although we loved her dearly, we could not make her stay. A heart of gold stop beating, hard working hands now rest. God broke our hearts to show us, he always takes the best. A celebration graveside service for Nancy Cole will be held at 10 am on Friday, December 4, 2009 at the Sunset Memorial Park Chapel in Danville with Pastor Rod Godley officiating. Sunset Funeral Home in Danville handled arrangements. Memorial donations may be sent in Nancys name to the Vermilion County Handicapped Association.
