Nancy Carol Koss joined our Father in Heaven peacefully at the home of her daughter in Arizona at 1:42 am on Wednesday, August 12, 2015. Nancy was born on November 26, 1936 in Danville, Illinois to Vernon and Thelma Hix and was raised by her beloved aunt and uncle, Oscar and Susie Birdsell. She was married on September 15, 1973 to Albert Richard Koss. She was the beloved mother to Connie (Rodriguez) and grandmother to William Bartos and Jennifer Bartos. Siblings include: Bob Summers, Jean Bryant, Betty White, Victor Hix, William Hix, Richard Hix, Gary Hix, JR Hix and Susan Hix. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rick Koss in May of 2010, sister, Jean Bryant and brothers; Bob Summers, William Hix and Victor Hix and brother-in-laws: Frank Koss and Jimmy Koss. Nancy grew up in Tilton, Illinois and attended Danville High School. She was employed by R & S Printing Company for 20 years and retired from Danville Area Community College after 20 years of employment. Nancy and Rick lived many happy years in Catlin, Illinois. She was a member of the First Assembly of God and enjoyed, cleaning, traveling and spending time with her many cherished friends and family. "To know that one life has breathed easier because you lived is to have succeeded". Ralph Waldo Emerson A celebration of life will be held for family and friends on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Kennekuk County Park, white Vermilion Chapel. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will be at the Danville National Veterans Cemetery along side her husband. Memorial donations may be made to the Midwest Dachshund Rescue at www.mwdr.org, in memory of Mom and Dad's cherished; Katie.
