Nancy Burke

Nancy J. Burke, 89, of Danville passed away at 7:35 a.m. on Wednesday October 14, 2009. She was born on September 19, 1920 in Oakwood, IL the daughter of Lewis L.M. and Lena (Oakley) Crawford. She married Richard F. Burke on December 30, 1942 in Danville, IL. He preceded her in 1976. Nancy was a registered nurse. She worked at St. Elizabeth Pediatric department, and then went to private duty at Lakeview Memorial. She later worked at the VA hospital and after a few more years in private duty retired in 1972. Nancy moved to St. John, IN, in approximately 1978 to be close to Joan (Alex) Bafia, and then later returned to Danville in 2002 to be close to Sandra (Jay) Jones. Other survivors include many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and great-great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers George and Harley Crawford and two sisters, Elma White and Hazel Gielow. Nancy enjoyed traveling and fishing in Michigan. She loved spending time with and reminiscing with family.
