Myrtle 'Myrt' Gilles

Myrtle Myrt Gilles, 87, of Danville, passed away on Tuesday, 12:15am, on November 16, 2010 at the Hawthorne Inn with her family by her side. She was born on October 31, 1923 in Ridge Farm, IL, the daughter of Jacob Bud Truett and Nina (Hacker) Truett. She married C. Thomas Gilles at the former St. Patricks Church in Danville. He preceded her in death in 1992. Survivors include, her daughter, Wendy Barnes of Danville, her son, Joseph T. Gilles of Phoenix, AZ., and her three grandchildren, Rebecca Becky Barnes of Danville, Elisabeth Betsy Barnes (Weiss) of Jacksonville FL., and Brady Barnes of Jacksonville, Fl. Myrtle is also survived by her dear friend Rita Prouty of Danville, as well as several of her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Her parents, two sisters, Ruth Mourer, Dorothy. Helen Shields, and three brothers, Earl Truett, Clarence Truett, and Elmer Truett preceded Myrtle in death. She was a devoted member of the St. Pauls Catholic Church where she was known, for many years, as the one who opened the church in the morning. She was employed with General Motors in the Human Resources Department, as Bookkeeper for Deans Paint and Wallpaper when it was located on Hazel Street. She worked then for many years as a legal administrative assistance for Bill Garrison. Her hobbies included, golfing, playing bridge, reading, and spending time with her family. Myrtle was regarded as the caretaker of friends and family. She will be missed by all that knew her A memorial service to celebrate the Life of Myrtle Gilles will be held at St. Pauls Catholic Church in Danville beginning at 10:30am,on Saturday, December 11, 2010. Family will be present before hand to recieve friends.Memorial condolences may be made to the Danville Public Library Outreach Department, the Cancer Society, and St. Pauls Catholic Church.
