Myron Kumler

Myron L. Kumler passed away at Carle Hospital in Urbana after a long battle with Multiple Myloma (Blood cancer) on Tuesday, May 23, 2017. Myron was born on November 6, 1944 in Urbana to Loren and Ruth Kumler of Bellflower, Il. He graduated from Bellflower Township High School in 1962 and Carl Sandberg College in Galesburg. Myron was married to Kathy Cooper in 1996. She survives. He was employed by Illinois Power for nearly 40 years, retiring in 2001 as substation supervisor. He then volunteered for Turtle Run Golf Club and Anker Florist. Myron enjoyed all sports, golfing, racquetball, bowling and fastpitch softball. He was inducted into the Softball Hall of Fame in 1986. Myron was on 4 state championship teams and named MVP 3 times. He was also all state as a pitcher 9 times. He was a member of Second Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife, son; Ryan (Rachel) Kumler, grandchildren; Kelsie, Tyler, John "Ronnie" and Mallory, brother; Tom (Karen) Kumler, nephews: Todd and Rick and his Shih tzu Becker. He is preceded in death by his parents and good friend and softball catcher, Al Krietemeier of Charleston and Shih tzu Emmitt. The family would like to thank Dr. Vasireddy, the oncology nurses at Carle in North Danville and Urbana, Il., Mike Shirey, Chris Herron at Turtle Run Golf Club, Stephanie Sloan from Anker Florist, The Kinneys, the Sundays and the Gerretts. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in Myron's name to Second Church of Christ. A celebration of Myron's life will be held on Saturday May 27, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Second Church of Christ, 3350 E. Voorhees St. Danville, Il. 61834. A visitation will be held two hours prior starting at 9:00 am. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Sunset Memorial Park. Dale DeNeal will be officiating.
