Myrna J. Mack, 87, passed away on August 20, 2026 at her home in rural Danville surrounded by loved ones. She was born on March 6, 1939 in Clifton, Illinois to the late Wilbur and Faye {Orr} Bear. Growing up, she attended Crescent City High School. Her educational journey took her to the Lakeview College of Nursing in Danville next, where she obtained her nursing license. She stayed in Danville and worked her entire career at the Illiana Veterans’ Affairs, retiring in 1993.
Myrna will be remembered for her giving and sweet soul. She could always be found with a smile on her face and her happiness truly radiated to those around her. She was a faithful member of the Batestown Methodist Church and also enjoyed teaching Sunday School at the Vermilion Heights Methodist Church for many years. She enjoyed being around children and was even known to spend hours playing with their toys with them if they desired. Her grandchildren always looked forward to the opportunity to be around her no matter what the activity at hand was, a joy that extended to their adulthood as well. A collector of nearly everything, she loved rummaging, reading, and working on puzzles.
In addition to her parents, Myrna was preceded in death by her husband Robert Mack and her siblings Ardith Rogers and Ronald Bear.
Myrna will be sorely missed by her children Mike (Cyndi) Isenhower, Michele (Greg) Wiese, and Sheryl (Tom) Venis; as well as her grandchildren Haley Isenhower, Nick Stansel, Jillian Camp, Samantha Wiese, Andy (Patti) Venis, and Stephanie (Daryl) Premkumar. She is also survived by her great-granddaughter Emily, and her cat/ best friend Midnight.
Per Myrna’s wishes, she will be cremated and then placed to rest at the Danville National Cemetery with her husband Robert following a private family service. Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Batestown Methodist Church. Online condolences, fond memories, and photographs can be shared with her family at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
