Myra Jean Flick

Danville - Myra Jean Flick, 87, of Danville passed away at 9:25 AM on Saturday May 13, 2017 at her home in Danville. Myra was born on July 24, 1929 the daughter of Omar L. and Hazel A. (Boone) Sims in Lawndale, IL. She married Virgil D. Flick on September 27, 1947 and he preceded her in death on March 31, 2012. Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Dungan and Tammie Lawson both of Danville, IL, four grandchildren, Brent Dungan of Indianapolis, IN, Tommy (Christy) Lockhart of Danville, IL, Chad Lockhart of Indianapolis, IN, and Malea (Ricky) Crosby of Terre Haute, IN as well as eleven great grandchildren. Myra is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Virgil, and one daughter, Cozette King and brother, Jack Sims. Myra was a member of the 2nd Church of Christ in Danville. She had a strong belief in her faith and in the Lord. Family was very important to Myra, she was a devoted wife and mother to her husband and family. She loved to "play in the dirt" with her flowers, watching the birds in her backyard, taking her daily walks, or could be found in her kitchen cooking up some of her famous fried chicken, mac and cheese, dumplings, baking one of her wonderful pies or mixing up a batch of her "special" popcorn. Myra always had a bright smile and sweet personality. She was known by many for her eloquent letters that were written in a prose that sounded as though she were speaking directly to the recipient. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday May 18, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion Street, Danville, IL. Drew Mentzer will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Carle Hospice or Four Paws Humane Society.
