Mychael Brian Joseph Appelman

Mychael Brian Joseph Appelman, a cherished member of the Appelman and Abernathy families, was born on November 18, 2025, in Danville, Illinois. His time with us was brief, as he departed this world on December 4, 2025, at Carle Foundation Hospital.

Though his life was short, Mychael was surrounded by love during his fleeting moments. His family loved him dearly, treasuring every minute they shared with him. The impact of his presence, though brief, will forever be felt in their hearts.

Mychael will be deeply missed by his parents Mykah BriAnn Abernathy and Blaton Joseph Lee Appelman; his grandparents Jake Rusk, Jessika (Paul Bishop) Abernathy, and Tamara Appelman; his great-grandparents Delbert & RoseAnn Story, Cyndie Byers Wakeland, David (Tracy) Rusk II, and Mary Kay Remschneider. He will also be fondly remembered by his aunts and uncles Cameron Kemper, Jayce Rusk, Blayce Rusk, Jazmyn Stabler, Kaydence Rusk, Natalie Stabler, Amelia Rusk, Chelssy Stabler, Justin Appelman, Mariah Appelman, and Joey Appelman, as well as many cousins.

Mychael was preceded in death by his grandfather Michael Kemper; great-grandfathers Steven Abernathy and Jerry Wakeland; and his aunts Tina Jo Fehr and Tinsley Rae.

A visitation for Mychael will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025 from 12 pm- 1 pm at Sunset Funeral Home’s Houghton Leasure Chapel, located at 200 E. West Street in Georgetown, Illinois. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1 pm, also at the funeral home. Per his parents’ wishes, Mychael will be cremated following the services.
