Murray Jones

Perrysville - Murray Jones, 85, of Perrysville, IN passed away on Wednesday, January 31 at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville, IL. Murray was born William Murray Jones on December 30, 1932 in Perrysville, IN, the son of Victor and Louise (Murray) Jones. Murray was married to Alice (Chezem) Hall and to them were born three children, Marina, Stuart, and Steven. Alice survives. Later he married Shirley Kennedy who predeceased him and then married Sharon Goetzelman who predeceased him. Survivors include one daughter; Marina (Brian) Gernant of Geneseo, IL, two sons; Stuart (Michele) Jones of Stuart, FL and Steven (Desiree) Jones of Champaign, IL, one sister; Doris Dunham of Danville, IL, eight grandchildren; Erik (Kristen) Gernant, Steven Gernant, Nicholas Jones, Jordan Jones, Elizabeth Jones, Logan Jones, Cedric Jones, and Tyler (Clarisse) Jones, a new great grandson, James Gernant, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and step children Murray is preceded in death by his parents, two wives, and one sister; Reva Jones. Murray was a farmer all of his life in the Perrysville, IN area. He served in the United States Army for two years. He loved classic country music, travelling and dining with his friends at VIPS and other local establishments. The family extends sincere gratitude to Sharon and Keith Walker for the love and care they gave to Murray. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N Vermilion Street Danville, IL. Steven Jones will officiate. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Danville, IL with Military Rites accorded by American Legion Post 210. Memorials may be made in Murray's memory to the charity of the donor's choice.
