Muriel L. Hamand

Muriel L. Hamand, 94, formerly of Hemet, CA, passed away at 4:10 a.m. June 29, 2017 at Hawthorne Inn in Danville. She was born August 6, 1922 in Cayuga, IN to the late James and Carrie (Hold) Walters. She married Richard Hamand September 12, 1940, he preceded her in 1997. She married Merle Miller January 20, 1999, he preceded her in 2007. She is survived by three sisters, Pauline Anweiler of Carmel, IN, Joan Houston of Inkom, ID and Jean Switzer of Cayuga, IN, two brothers, James (Lavern) Walters of Anderson, IN and Bill Walters of Cayuga, IN and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Floyd Walters, two sisters, Lucille Barker and June Holden and five brothers-in-law. Muriel enjoyed reading and made many beautiful cross-stitch pictures. Her greatest joy was caring for her husbands and travelling all over the United State, Mexico, Canada, Hawaii and Alaska. She also enjoyed several cruises. She will be greatly missed. The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful and efficient care she received by the staff at Hawthorne Inn. They were all very compassionate and caring. Per Muriels request a private family gathering will be at DeVerter Funeral Home with her nephew, Jim Walters officiating. Private burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery in Terre Haute.
