Moses Gene Eugene Asmar, 50, of Columbia, Tennessee, formerly of Danville, passed away at 12:28 p.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, Tennessee. Gene was born on July 9, 1957 in Danville, the son of Moses and Bertha (Pugh) Asmar. Gene was previously married to Karen Asamr of Columbia, Tennessee and from that marriage they had two children- Phillip and Kaitlyn Asmar both of Columbia, Tennessee. Gene is also survived by his mother- Bert (Albert Woody) Woodford of Danville; one brother- Bob (Sue) Asmar of Bloomington, Illinois; one step-brother- Neal Tucker of Fayetteville, Arkansas; one niece- Megan Asmar of Bloomington, Illinois; four nephews- Christopher and Tyler Asmar of Bloomington, Illinois and Dylan and Dustin Asmar of Danville; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father- Moses Asmar; brother- Michael Asmar; maternal grandmother- Rita Pugh; step-father- Malcolm Tucker; and step-brother- Larry Tucker. Gene graduated from Danville High School in 1975. After high school he attended Danville Area Community College. After attending DACC, Gene started working at General Motors. In 1992 he was transferred to Columbia, Tennessee and began working at General Motors Saturn. Gene has been working at General Motors for the last 29 years. He was a member of UAW Local #1853. Gene enjoyed fishing, pool, jigsaw puzzles and spending time with his children. He was an avid Cardinals and Tennessee Titans fan. A Celebration of the Life of Moses Gene Eugene Asmar will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 10, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, with Pastor Kevin Summers officiating.
