Covington, Ind. - Montie L. Keller, 79, of Covington, passed away at 5:05 a.m. EST Monday, January 26, 2015 at Gulfside Hospice in Zephyrhills, Florida. Montie was born on February 13, 1935 in Covington, Indiana the son of the late Cyril and Georgia Smith Keller. He married Betty A. Cook on July 6, 1963 in Covington, Indiana. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Georgia(Thad McBride)Keller of Covington, Indiana and Brenda Keller of Rock Island, Texas; grandchildren, Rhiannon River Grubbs and Jade Jameson Grubbs both of Covington, Indiana; Matthew Lawrence Neelley of Scottsdale, Arizona; Dylan Maquade VandeGarde of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Dakota Michelle VandeGarde of Ashton, Iowa and one great grandson, Isiah Neelley of Scottsdale, Arizona; one sister, Bonnie Keller of Covington, Indiana; nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. Montie was preceded in death by his step mother, Elizabeth Keller; grandson, Marshall Lucus Neelley; sister, Janice Cannon and brother, Donnie Keller. Montie was a supervisor at Medline in Covington, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Christian Union Church, Perrysville Unity Lodge #344 F&AM, Kingman O.E.S. and the Danville Moose Lodge #1001. Montie was a 1953 graduate of Covington High School. He and his wife, Betty spent the past twenty one years wintering in Zephyrhills, Florida. Montie was a very caring, loving and gentle soul who was always willing to help out anyone who needed it. Montie enjoyed dancing, listening to music as well as singing at church, mowing, roller skating and spending time at his cabin along the Wabash River. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and watching his granddaughters play sports. Funeral services: 2 p.m. EST Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Louie Stein and Pastor Tony DeMoss; Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. EST Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at the funeral home. Memorial services by the Perrysville Unity Lodge #344 F&AM will be held at 7:30 p.m. EST. Following funeral services cremation will be accorded per Montie's wishes.
