Catlin, IL. Mona Lynn Krankavitch, 63, of Catlin, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023, at home surrounded by her family.
She was born June 10, 1960, in Danville, Illinois, daughter of the late Max and Zealie (Lourdeau) Baker.
She married Richard "Rick" Krankavitch on June 28, 1980, in Westville, Illinois and he survives.
Other survivors include her children: Riki (Ryan) Schull of Danville, IL., Brian Krankavitch of Westville, IL., and Adam Krankavitch of Perrysville, IN; her sister: Tara (Erik) Hopkins of Onley, IL; her grandchildren: Emberlyn Schull and Kolsyn Schull; her sisters-in-law: Tammy Baker, Jennifer Baker, and Robin Carter; many nieces and nephews; and her special group of friends: "The Vintage People"
Along with her parents, Mona was preceded in death by her sisters: Wendy Smith, and Lori Blankenship; her brothers: Derek Baker and Neil Baker; father-in-law and mother-in-law Richard (Rosemary) Krankavitch; her brother-in-law: Doug Carter; and one niece: Maxa Bruce.
Mona was a graduate of Georgetown High School and later went on to graduate from Danville Area Community College. She worked for 27 years as a secretary for Catlin Grade School/Salt Fork North where she could famously be heard over the door intercom saying, "Right door, please!" and arranging school events for the kids and staff. More than anything, Mona loved spending time with her family. She was lovingly referred to as "Mother Christmas" by those who knew her best and would come up with new games each year for her family to play like the "Right/Left/Across" game to bring her family closer together at the Christmas gift exchange.
A Celebration of Life for Mona will be held at 1PM on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N Vermilion Street Danville, IL 61834 with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be from 11AM-1PM on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at the funeral home.
