Danville, Ill. -- Mollie Mitchell, 82, of Danville, passed away at 2:35 a.m. CST Friday, September 23, 2011 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. She was a wonderful woman who thought of everyone else before herself. She was born June 16, 1929 in Hazard County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Johnnie and Rosie Stevens McIntosh. She married Harlan Gearheart in 1946 at Mount Sterling, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on May 31, 1989. Survivors include two daughters, Beatrice(Dave)Hicks and Judy(James Lamb)Gearheart both of Danville, Illinois; one son, Calvin(Betty)Gearheart of Kingman, Indiana; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Charles and Johnnie Gearheart; one sister and one brother. Mollie enjoyed the outdoors, quilting, sewing, gardening and working around the house. She retired from CCL in Danville in 2007. Mollie spent her childhood years growing up in Kentucky and was friends with Loretta Lynn. Mollie loved her dogs Peaches(which she liked to call "Pizza") and Corky, along with her cat, Sammy. Mollie enjoyed spending time with her family. Funeral services: 2 p.m. EDT Monday, September 26, 2011 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Pastor Steve Crum; Burial: Miller Cemetery in Lodi, Indiana; Visitation: Noon EDT Monday, September 26, 2011 until time of services at the funeral home.
