Mollie J. (McClain) Bogart, 78, of Danville, IL passed away at her home with her family by her side at 1:59 PM on April 3, 2026.
Mollie was born on October 23, 1947, the daughter of Oscar Elza and Kathryn Ann (Hazel) McClain, in Danville, IL. She was formerly married to Raymond Lee Bogart.
Survivors include her daughter, Nikki (Jay Ollis) Bogart of Danville, IL, her sister, Nancy Kay (Rick) Harper of Danville, IL and her cousin, and special friend, Chris (John) Ramsey of Danville, IL.
Mollie is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Oscar Michael McClain.
Mollie earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Illinois and taught English at Danville High School for more than 30 years. While working at the high school she served as the advisor to Radio Staff where some of her students went on to broadcasting careers. Mollie was also the sole proprietor of Bogart Income Tax Service for many years.
A Master Gardener, Mollie loved to tend to her flowers and vegetable gardens. She also enjoyed fishing, playing the piano, dancing, painting, playing a variety of card games, gambling at the slot machines and crocheting. She was a world traveler and went to Europe several times over the years. In her younger years, you could find her riding motorcycles and was a longtime volunteer with the Turtle Races in Danville.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 10, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Chaplain Andrea Beyke will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 PM on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at the funeral home in Danville, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mollie’s memory to the American Cancer Society or the English Department at Danville High School District 118 through the Cashier’s Office at the High School.
