Mitchell R. Walton

Danville – Mitchell Roy Walton, 73, of Oakwood, passed away at 4:25 PM on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at Accolade Healthcare of Danville. He was born on June 4, 1953, in Danville to Roy E. and Mabel B. (Redmond) Walton.

He is survived by a sister, Beverly (Larry) Hays of Oakwood; a sister-in-law, Carolynn Eads; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Glenn Eads; and his grandparents, Ollie and Hays Redmond, Ray Walton, and Mary Sparks.

Mitchell loved to play a challenging game of chess, a talent he learned early on from his dad. He could also be found sitting down for a game of BINGO anytime the opportunity was presented. Mitchell’s Christian faith was important in his life. He especially enjoyed attending the worship services at Accolade during his time there and would attend as often as he was able.

A graveside service to celebrate the life of Mitchell R. Walton will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 6, 2026, at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Pastor Carl Shaw will officiate. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834 has been entrusted with arrangements.
