Minnie Lou Bishop, 79, of Danville, passed away at 7:58 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2005 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was born July 3, 1925 in Greenville, North Carolina, the daughter of Nile and Elsie (Briley) Stocks. She married Jack R. Bishop, Sr. on September 13, 1942 in Greenville, North Carolina. Jack preceded her in death on August 13, 1985. Minnie is survived by: two sons- Jack R. (Nora) Bishop, Jr.of Rockford, IL and Henry Clay Bishop III of Danville ; two daughters- Nyla S. (Lyle) Neal-Hicks and Jacqueline McDonald " both of Danville; five grandchildren " Stacy Bishop, Tiffany Neal, Templeton Bishop, Brianna Neal and Corbin Bishop; two great-grandchildren " Anthony King and Adrian Bishop. In addition to her husband, her parents, nine brothers " Stancil, Earl, Ormond, Marvin, Leon, Bonnie, Doctor, Leo and Carl Stocks, and three sisters- Kathleen Sis Fussell, Alma Smith and one sister in infancy preceded her in death. She attended Winterville High School in Winterville, NC, and was a graduate of Rockford Beauty School in 1963. She had been a licensed beautician for many years. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, was active in Senior Power, and was a member of the Illinois Cosmetology Association. She loved to knit, enjoyed her grandchildren and was devoted to her church.
