Cayuga, Ind. - Millie A. Warnick, 82, of Cayuga, passed away at 7:50 p.m. EST Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Clinton Gardens in Clinton, Indiana. She was born September 24, 1929 in Clinton, Indiana, the daughter of the late Wallace "Archie" and Madeline Shelato King. She married Harold E. "Doc" Warnick on May 27, 1950 in Cayuga, Indiana. He preceded her in death on June 2, 1992. Survivors include one daughter, Jill(Bill)Dixon of Cayuga, Indiana; two sons, Jon(Bobbette)Warnick and Jeff(Denise)Warnick both of Cayuga, Indiana; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Sam King and two nephews, Rick and Tim King. Millie was an artist for over 40 years. She always liked to draw and sketch. She began her art career painting with pastels. While she enjoyed different mediums she preferred oils. Millie enjoyed all kinds of paintings, including still life's and florals but was known best for her favorite subjects of landscapes and covered bridges. Millie won several awards for her paintings. Much of her artwork can be found in private collections all over the country, Her paintings were displayed for several years at the Parke County Art Gallery where she was also a proud member of the Parke County Covered Bridge Association for 37 years. Millie enjoyed playing cards and games with family, collecting movies and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Millie also had a special group of long time girlfriends that she loved to run around and have fun with. Millie was a 1947 graduate of Cayuga High School. She was a member of the Cayuga Christian Church and the Eastern Star. Funeral services: 11 a.m. EST Thursday, January 5, 2012 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Dr. Andy Spencer; Burial: Thomas Cemetery in Newport, Indiana; Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. EST Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the funeral home.
