Mildred M. Riggs, age 94, of Danville, passed away at 12:40 am on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at North Logan Health Care in Danville. She was born February 15, 1915 in Rossville, IL the daughter of Charles Alfred and Jessie Florence (Price) Stump. Mildred married Paul Louis Riggs on November 26, 1938 in Canton, Ohio. He preceded her in death on May 1, 1965. She is survived by one daughter: Margie (Charles) Watkins of Cayuga, IN; one son: Les (Melody) Riggs of Bismarck, IL; seven grandchildren: Michael (Annette) Watkins of Covington, IN, Steven (Penny) Watkins of Cayuga, IN, Randy (Gidget) Watkins of Danville, Scott (Tiffany) Watkins of Westville, Michelle (Ben) Walden of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Becky Riggs of Bismarck, Patty Riggs of Champaign; five great grandchildren: Josh Watkins, Brady Watkins, Chelsey Watkins, Hannah Watkins, Andrew Walden; a special sister-in-law: Ruth Stump of Williamsport, IN and a special nephew: Billy Joe (Susan) Tuggle. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers, two sisters, and two infant siblings. Mildred graduated from Alvin High School in 1933. She worked at Eisners Bakery and Longhorn Steakhouse in Danville, and worked as an in-home caregiver. She liked playing bingo and called it for several years at the Vermilion Home apartments where she lived. Mildred also enjoyed Euchre and Bunko and was involved with a club that played the games regularly. She loved spending time with her family and friends and enjoyed traveling. She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Bismarck and later attended Northland Church of Danville. A celebration of the life of Mildred Riggs will be held at 1 pm on Friday, October 23, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home in Danville. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Alvin. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 pm on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made in Mildreds name to the American Cancer Society.
