Mildred Irene Parris, 83, of Danville, passed away at 3:21 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2005 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Danville. Mildred was born on June 27, 1922 in Fredonia, Kentucky, the daughter of Oscar and Lillie Mae (Patterson) Lewis. She married Johnnie Baker Parris on August 5, 1939 at Silent Run, Hopkins County, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on September 23, 1993 in Danville. She is survived by her 2 daughters- Grace (Frank) Rodgers of Melbourn Beach, Florida, and Linda Sue (Robert) Young of Danville; 4 grandchildren- Timothy Ray Rodgers of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Kevin Michael (Michele) Rodgers of Lakeland, Florida, WeTona G. Houtzel of Buckley, Illinois, and Jeffery B. (Lori) Young of Fithian, Illinois; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; 1 special niece- Barbara (Glen) Dame of Hanson, Kentucky; 1 special cousin- Nell (Ralph) McClure of Clarksville, Tennessee; and many special great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 granddaughter- Vicki Lynn Latham, and 1 grandson-in-law- Danny Lee Houtzel. Mildred was a homemaker. She was a member of the Vermilion Heights Christian Church in Danville, where she was a member of the willing workers ladies group at the church. She has attended the Faith Church of Christ for the last 5 years. She enjoyed working with ceramics and making quilts. She also enjoyed flowers and gardening at her home. Mildred was an avid Cardinals and Illini fan. She loved playing all types of games. She also loved to travel and visit family and friends.
