Mildred L. Miller, 89, of Oakwood, IL, passed away at 11:50am, Sunday, May 25, 2010, at Provena USMC, Danville. She was born on November 18, 1920, in Newtown, IN, the daughter of Walter L. and Matie (Knee) Willhite, both deceased. She was married to Alvie O. Miller on April 11, 1942, in Covington, IN, until his passing in October 1960. Survivors include: her sons, Alvie (Patty) Miller of Hume, IL, Gary (Doris) Miller of Decatur, IL, Tom (Carmen) Miller of Brazil, IN, & Walt Miller of Danville; her daughters, Patricia (Bill) Priest of Tilton, Irene (Chuck) Mercer of Oakwood, & Betty (Lonie) Duprey of Covington, IN; her special granddaughter, Kendra Miller of Westville whom she helped raise; her twenty-one grandchildren; and many great & great-great grandchildren; her brother, Junior Willhite of Homedale, ID; and her sister, Jane Adams of Avon, IN. Mildred was preceded in death by: her son, Kenneth Miller; her two sisters, Gladys Brady & Pat Utterback; and her five brothers, Floyd, Robert, Richard, Harry, & Samuel. Mildred was a home maker and attended West Side Church of the Nazarene. She was baptized in June of 1941. In her spare time, Mildred enjoyed crocheting, completing word search puzzles. She also collected angels and enjoyed listening to gospel music. Most of all, Mildred loved her family and cherished spending time with them. A celebration of Mildreds life will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, April 29, 2010, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S State St, Westville, with visitation being held one hour prior. Bill Wright will officiate. She will be laid to rest in Mount Hope Cemetery in Covington.
