Mildred Elizabeth Bechtel

Mildred Elizabeth Bechtel, 72, of Georgetown, passed away at 5:15pm, June 28, 2015, at her home surrounded by family. She was born on October 5, 1942, in Gulfport, Mississippi, to William W. and Allie {Page} Holland. On July 9, 1960, Millie married the love of her life, Charles Chuck' Bechtel in Gulfport, MS. After starting their family, they settled in Lincoln, IL. Millie worked at Cutler Hammer-Eaton Corporation, retiring after 26 years. In addition to raising her two daughters, she was a member of the Lincoln Church of the Nazarene serving in many roles. Millie and Chuck settled in Georgetown, IL, to be closer to family after retirement and was a member of the Georgetown Church of the Nazarene. She helped with Sunday school & vacation bible school. She also was a member of the American Legion Dornblasers Post #203 Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed being outside and shopping. She cherished her time she spent with her family and friends, especially being with her grandchildren. In 2013, she was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love & prayers of family and friends carried her through two more blessed years. She will be dearly missed by: her husband, Chuck; her daughters, Tammy Lynn James & Peggy Ann (Doug) Wolpert of Georgetown; the love & joy of her life, her grandchildren, Charlie (Sarah) Wolpert, Allen Bechtel, Shelby James, & Kayla Wolpert, as well as her great granddaughter, Ariah Bechtel; and her sister, Earline (Bill Hyatt) Blankenship of Gulfport, MS. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her brothers, J.W., Murphy, Clarence, & A.J. Holland; her sisters, Annie Mae West & Margie R. Hayes; and her infant son, James Edward Bechtel. Millie's family would like to send a special "thank you" to Ruth & George of Harbor Light Hospice for all the care and support they showed during this time. A celebration of Millie's life will be held at 11:00am, Friday, July 3, 2015, at Georgetown Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Gary Farris officiating. Visitation will be 5pm to 8pm, Thursday, July 2, 2015, at the Church. She will be laid to rest in Forest Park Cemetery. Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial donations may be given in her name to Harbor Light Hospice.
