Mildred Dean Hickman

Mildred D. Hickman, 96 of Danville passed away at 9:45 am on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at OSF Sacred Heart in Danville. She was born on April 2, 1922 in Collison, Illinois, the daughter of Ike and Nina (Jarvis) Taylor. She was united in marriage to Leonard Hickman on August 10, 1940 in Jamesburg, Illinois, he precedes her in death. She will be dearly missed by son, Dick (Susan) Hickman of Vero Beach, Florida; Daughter, Donna Crowder of Danville; grandchildren, Cathi Saunders, Connie (Bryan) Cannon, Jill (Edgar Paz) Doggett, Chad (Melissa) Hickman, Chuck (Tammy) Crowder, Chris Crowder, April (Doug) Ireland, Mike (Holly) Crowder; eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, two granddaughters and one grandson. Dean was a member of the Community Church of God in Danville where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the church board. She spent her time writing poems and cheering on the Chicago Cubs. Dean was also a Cub Scout Den Mother and the President of Collett Grade School PTA. Dean also loved spending time with her family. A celebration of Dean's life will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, May 21, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville with Pastor Jeremy Zerkle officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Spring Hill Cemetery in Danville. Memorial donations may be made in Dean's name to Anderson University Scholarship fund or a charity of the donor's choice.
