Milbra Osborn Butler Brady

Milbra Osborn Butler Brady, 103, formerly of Danville, Illinois, and West Lafayette, Indiana, passed away at University Heights Health and Living Community in Greenwood, Indiana, on June 28, 2021. She was the daughter of Arch and Letah (McKenzie) Osborn and was born on February 7, 1918, in Vermilion County, Illinois. Milbra graduated from Danville High School in 1935 and Normal Teachers College (now Eastern Illinois University) with a Teachers Certificate in 1937. She played field hockey and basketball in both high school and college. She taught at Lincoln Elementary School in Danville and the Chandler and Waite rural schools. In 1939, Milbra married Floyd E. Butler. They lived in Danville until World War II called Floyd into the U.S. Navy. After the war, they restarted their life in Danville and began a family, which includes Bill, Judy, and Paul. Milbra was active in the affairs of Danville, including serving as a leader for the Cub Scouts, 4H, Parent-Teacher Associations, the YWCA, and United Way. She taught Sunday School at Second Church of Christ and Northland Christian Church. In her spare time, Milbra was an avid golfer at Harrison Park Golf Course. After retirement, Floyd and Milbra spent the winters in Holiday, Florida, and became active members of the First Christian Church Clearwater. Floyd passed away in 1981. In 1988, Milbra married Robert W. Brady and moved to West Lafayette, Indiana, quickly becoming a Purdue fan. Milbra readily embraced the Brady sons, Bob and Joe, and their families. They continued to live in West Lafayette and Florida until Robert passed away in 2013. Milbra will be missed by each member of her family, including her sons: Bill Butler (Reba) of Bedford, Indiana; Bob Brady (Bernice) of Nampa, Idaho; Joe Brady (Peggy) of Stanley, North Carolina; Paul Butler (Anita) of Cincinnati, Ohio; her daughter Judy Dodd-Perdue (Jim) of Indianapolis, Indiana; her grandchildren, Stephanie Butler, Michael Butler (Marnie), Kristen Young (Barry), Amy Marlar (Steve), Jennie Rocklin (Joe), Sarah Stanforth (David), Brecka Lewis (Drew), Chris Wolfe (Jason), Scott Brady (Brittany); and her great grandchildren, Chelsea and Jake Flessner, Taylor Butler, David Munro, Jane Wiley, Belle and Luke Marlar, Elizabeth and Catherine Rocklin, Olivia and Eleanor Lewis, Connor and Brady Wolfe, and Grant Brady, and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother Grace Clapp Osborn, two husbands, and her sisters, Jane Myer of Sarasota, Florida, and Nancy Eckert of Normal, Illinois. Having lived more than 103 years, surviving the great depression, five wars, and two pandemics, Milbra closed her eyes and went home to join the lover of her soul, Jesus Christ.
