Henning- Mikel H. Johnson, 56, of Henning passed away at 1:33 PM on Wednesday, April 7 2010 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. He was born on April 9, 1953 in Danville, the son of Robert and Neva Elliot Johnson. He married Chris Kutch on February 9, 1974 in Danville. She survives. Also surviving are one son Chad Mikel Johnson with whom he had a very special bond; one brother Robert Jay (Suz) Johnson; two sisters Carol Golden and Janis (Daryl Stotlmyer); brother-in-law Ric (Pam) Kutch of MO; 6 nephews Rob (Robin) Golden, Chris (Christy) Johnson, Brad (Cyndi) Johnson, Kirby, Rick (Stephanie) Kutch, and Rob (Kyla) Kutch; nieces Heather Golden and Amy (Rusty) Henry; special nephews Ayden and Gavin Golden as well as 15 other nieces and nephews that gave him joy; staff-meeting members Lew Lane and Joe Dunavan; and special friends Troy Wolfe and Harold Pelszynski of FL. He was preceded in death by a friend Jim Nizet and brother-in-law Brad Golden. Mike worked road construction for McCallum Construction and Pancoast Construction until his retirement in 1995. Mike was Bismarck-Henning Wrestling for 24 years. He coached the Bismarck-Henning Youth Wrestling Club beginning in 1984 and became Assistant High School Coach for 17 years. Mike was a mentor as well as a coach to his wrestlers over the years. The children he was involved with were treated as his own kids and he loved them all. Mike also enjoyed local fishing and deep-sea fishing, hunting, beer drinking, reading, cars, and grilling out. He especially enjoyed spending time with his nephews. A service to celebrate the life of Mike will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville. Pastor Miles Clark will officiate. Burial will follow at Johnson Cemetery in Danville. A visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Friday, April 9 also at the funeral home.
