Mike Nelson

Charles “Mike” Nelson, 83, of Rantoul, IL passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 24, 2025 at his home. He was born December 31, 1941 in Potomac, IL, a son of Charles and Gladys (Zimmerman) Nelson.  He married  Anita Atkinson of July 8, 1968 in Rantoul.  She survives. He is survived by 2 daughter, Amanda (Kevin) Grabow or Rantoul; Pamela (James Davis) Nelson of Rantoul, a sister Ruth Kaiser of St. Joseph, IL. Also surviving are 7 grandcats and 2 granddogs. Mike worked civil service at Chanute Air Force Base for 31 years until it closed in 1991.  He was  an avid fisherman and played bass and guitar with various bands in the area for most of life. He was a loving husband and father and will be dearly missed. Ashes will be buried at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rantoul in a private service.
