Mike Chalk

Mike Chalk 77, of Mahomet, IL. passed away on September 15, 2026, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born on September 8, 1949, in Champaign, Illinois.

Mike enjoyed spending time outdoors, he loved attending his great, great, nephew, Boston's sporting events and spending time with family and friends. He retired from the Department of Transportation after 27 years of employment. 

He never met a stranger and will be remembered with love by those closest to him. He shared 53 years of marriage with his wife, Deb, a lasting partnership that stood at the heart of his family. He is also survived by his sons, Eric Chalk and William Chalk; beloved dog Tucker Joe and by his sisters, Mary Stout, Patsy McCormick, and Jane Slagle. The love of his family and the bonds they shared will remain a lasting part of his memory.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ted Chalk, and his mother, Betty Chalk.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on September 19, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center's Mahomet Chapel, 1102 Churchill Rd, Mahomet, Illinois 61853. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the same location. Mike will be interred at St. Mary's Cemetery in Champaign.

Friends and family are invited for food and beverages at the Mansfield Legion following the service from 3-5:30pm.

Mike’s memory will be carried forward by his family and all who knew him. May he be remembered with affection and gratitude.
