Mike Carr

Robert Michael "Mike" Carr, 72, of Danville passed away at 6:02 pm Saturday July 24, 2004 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, IN. Mike was born October 3, 1931 in Hume, IL the son of the late Thomas and Ruth (Twigg) Carr. Mike married Sue Hopkins on November 17, 1956 in Hume and she survives of Danville. Other survivors include I1 son Christopher Carr and 1 daughter Liz (Bobby) Ruffino both of Danville 1 brother Pat (Martha) Carr of Villa Grove and 1 sister Julia (Bill) Bounds of Danville. 1 Grandson Mark Pesek of Danville, and several nieces and nephews. Mike graduated from Young America High School in Metcalf, IL. After graduation he worked as an operating engineer of heavy equipment in construction in Decatur as a member of the Local #841 out of Terre Haute. Mike later worked as a Business Rep for the Local Teamsters #26. Mike also served as Vice President and Trustee and Board officer for Local #26 retiring in November of 1994. Mike was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, the K of C, the Rosary Group at St Paul's, and the Teamsters Local #26 Retirees Club. He enjoyed Woodworking, gardening, yard work, and sending E-mails on his computer. Mike was a people person, he loved to talk and he never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
