Michel DuMont

Michel DuMont, born on June 3, 1950, in Johnson City, New York, passed away on June 6, 2026, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois, after a long and hard fight. Throughout her life, Michel was a devoted paramedic and emergency medical technician, bringing comfort and aid to many in times of need during her esteemed career.

Michel was a woman of remarkable spirit and diverse interests. Among her many passions was her deep connection to the Iditarod dog race in Alaska. Over the years, she made numerous trips to witness this extraordinary event, appreciating the tireless determination of the dogs and mushers alike. Her adventurous nature even led her to participate once in an amateur-style dogsled race, a testament to her courage and love for the sport. She cherished the moments spent at the race stops, where she would meet both new and familiar faces, drawn together by the unique community surrounding the course every March.

Beyond her professional and adventurous pursuits, Michel was an avid quilter and enjoyed various arts and crafts projects that allowed her creative talents to flourish. She was also remarkably skilled in construction projects, often working independently with confidence and precision—a reflection of her resourcefulness and strength.

Michel is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Tonya Touchette; her sister, Cindy (Dave) Smith; and her nieces and nephews who carry forward her legacy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Arrene (Bona) DuMont; her sisters, Cheryl Porter, Rae Jo Booth, Veronica DuMont, and Kimberly Shepardson; as well as her niece, Jasmine Reindl.

Michel DuMont’s life was marked by resilience, compassion, and an enduring zest for adventure. She touched the lives of many through both her professional dedication and her vibrant personal spirit. Her memory will remain a lasting inspiration to all who knew her.
