Michael Lee Weaver, 75, passed away on December 31, 2025 at his home in Newport. He was born in Clinton, Indiana on December 19, 1950 to Robert and Betty {Pearman} Weaver. They both preceded in him death.
Mike graduated from North Vermillion High School, where he undoubtedly left an impression on peers and teachers alike. Following high school, he dedicated himself to serving his country by joining the United States Marine Corps. His commitment to his nation did not end there, as he became and continued being a member of the Newport American Legion for many years.
Mike was a man of quiet mystery, known equally for his sharp sense of humor and his generous, kind heart. He was also an avid fan of college basketball, especially when he could root for Indiana University, and remained a devoted supporter of the Indianapolis Colts. He was a member of the Newport Church of God and looked forward to any opportunity to golf. If it was a Saturday, it was almost guaranteed Mike could be found playing poker.
He is survived by his siblings Stephen (Kim Wehr) Weaver, Brenda (John) Alters, Debi Terlizzi, Greg Weaver, and Dennis “Scooter” (Jamie) Weaver, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mike will be cremated and a graveside service with military honors will be performed on Friday, January 9, 2026 at 12:00 pm EST at Danville National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, January 24, 2026 from 3- 6 pm EST at the Newport American Legion, where fond memories of Mike will be shared over dinner and drinks. Sunset Funeral Home's DeVerter Chapel assisted the family with arrangements.
