Michael Wayne Starkey

Michael Wayne Starkey, 64, of Danville passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021, at OSF Medical Center. He was born December 4, 1956, in Danville, the son of Malvin and Barbara (Doss) Starkey. Mike graduated from Danville High School in 1975.

Mike was a talented singer and renowned musician, who enjoyed being on stage with his guitar and harmonica. Music was his soul and true love. At an early age, he received numerous accolades for his singing voice. Mike played in numerous bands over the years, even headlining his own, The Mike Starkey Band, during his time living in Maryland. Mike was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and enjoyed dirt track racing, old Westerns and collectibles. Mike never knew a stranger.

Surviving are his mother, Barbara (Starkey) Graves of Danville; one brother, Randy Starkey of Maryland; three stepsiblings, Sherry (Graves) Landstrom of Moline, Sue (Graves) Hunt of North Carolina and Ronald Graves of Pontiac; two sons, Eric Starkey of Watseka and Drew Starkey of Champaign; and 3 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father.

Mike was a member of the Second Church of Christ.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 18, from 5 p.m. until the 7 p.m. private memorial service at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville, Illinois.
