Michael Toronyi

Michael Toronyi, 83, of Danville, passed away at 9:47 a.m. Monday, January 15,2007 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center. Mr. Toronyi was born May 8, 1923 in Christopher,IL the son of the late Michael and Anna Brojik Toronyi. On July 31, 1973 he married Evelyn Wood in Gibson County,Tn. She preceded him on January 12,2004. Surviving are his children: Cheryl Toronyi of Dunedin, Fl., Tina (David) Gabbard of Williamsport,In., Cathy (Michael) MacDougall of Glendale Hgts,Il., Jeri (Dan) Overman of Crawfordsville,In., and Jane Weller of Danville,IL. , Bruce ( Dianne Mayes) Bost of Rutledge,Tn., Larry Bost of Bloomingdale,Il, and Thomas Lauderdale. Seven grandchildren: Michelle Harrison, Samantha Kendrick, Robert Harrison, Richard Harrison, Sara Hummel, Tim Patterson, Bailey Gabbard, Alisa amd Tim Lauderdale. Great grandchildren Gwendolyn Harrison, Nathan Kendrick and Lily Hummel. Sisters; Margaret Hartnell, Sue Wisnieski and Mary Kraemer and a brother Charles Toronyi. He was preceded by his wife, sisters Bertha Fick and Joan Boosinger and a step son Ronald Lauderdale. Mr Toronyi was a paratrooper during WWII. Serving in combat from 1943 to 1945 and also at one time with the 82 Airborne Division. He was a retired machinist from the Container Corp. out of Carol Stream,Il. A celebration of Mr. Toronyis life will be held at 2:00pm Friday, January 19,2007 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St.,Danville. Officiating Pastor Dave Hargrave Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until time of services at 2:00pm Entombment will be at Sunset Memorial Park.
