Michael Ray Sams

Perrysville, IN – Michael Ray Sams passed away surrounded by loving family on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. Michael was born in Danville to the late Sammy L. Sams and late Barbara A. (Jumps) Sams on June 2, 1960.

He leaves behind fiancée, Penny Swider of Perrysville; daughter Michelle Ann (Ryan Baker) Sams of Endeavor, Wisconsin; brothers Donnie (Mona Heger) Sams of Brooksville, Florida and David (Rose) Sams of Danville; aunt Nancy Sams of Chrisman; grandchildren Clayton (Abby Harms) Shirley of Minonk, IL, Payton Shirley, Ava-Rae Sams, and Caleb Baker from Endeavor, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews.

Michael was preceded in death by his nephews, Sean Sams and Kendall Sams; uncle, Dick Sams; and his grandparents.

He was a truck driver by trade and loved to fish, play golf, and was very proud of his 1973 yellow Ford Mustang (muscle car). He also enjoyed a cold adult beverage with many friends.

Michael’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Parke County EMS, Perrysville VFD, and Southern Care Hospice (Haley and Carson) for their help during this difficult time.

Per his wishes, Michael will be cremated and interred at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. No service will be held at this time, but a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834 have been entrusted with arrangements.
