Michael S. Holmes

Michael S. Holmes, 64, of Westville, passed away at 4:50am, Sunday, August 30, 2020, at his home. He was born in Hammond, IN, on September 7, 1955, the son of James L. and Glodean {Rainwater} Holmes. On April 11, 1981, he was united in marriage to Carol Krevalis. She will miss him dearly. He is also survived by: his son, Stephen (Diana) Holmes of Danville; his daughters, Rebecca (Jason Feeney) Holmes of Danville, Lisa (Billy Mlejnek) Johnson of St. Anne, IL, & Jessica (David) Cange of Bellville, IL; his brothers, Roger (Ann) Holmes & James Holmes; his grandchildren, Mya, Savannah, Gabrielle, Hannah, Addison, Kaden , Christopher, Emmett, Carter, Kenna, Jacob, Brittany, Samantha, Brandon, & one on the way; and his three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his daughter, LaDonna Aldis; and his brother, Danny Holmes. Michael was a proud Veteran of the US Marines. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and was known to love to watch COPS on television. He was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. He loved to play the guitar and loved his dog, Oscar. He cherished his grandchildren and was looking forward to the one on the way. He will be enormously missed by all who knew and loved him. A visitation will be held 4:00pm to 6:00pm, Thursday, September 3, 2020, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Westville, Illinois 414 S State St. Westville, Illinois 61883. A private family graveside service will be held at Resurrection Cemetery, Danville. It is kindly requested that face masks be worn, and social distancing is practiced by those in attendance of the visitation and or service.
