Michael A. Morgan, 73, of Cayuga passed away on December 7, 2024 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana. He was born on September 27, 1951 in Danville, Illinois to parents Charles Morgan and Alice (Joe) Dixon. He attended North Vermillion High School. Mike married the absolute love of his life, Kathy, on January 30, 1973. Her passing in 2014 had a profound impact on him and he has missed her every moment since.
Mike worked as a steel fabricator for over 30 years for Holmes Brothers Inc. out of Danville. He was on the Cayuga Fire Department for nearly 50 years of dedicated service, for which he began in 1975. He had a passion for serving others and was a member at the Presbyterian Church for which he also served as an elder. He was a member of the Illiana Corvette Club that afforded him the opportunity to drive around at his leisure, which was a past time he always looked forward to. He enjoyed getting together with his cousins every month to share stories and play cards. The highlight of his day was going up town for breakfast and lunch to share meals with his buddies where there was always an open seat, good company, and a warm meal ready for him when he walked in.
He is survived by his children Michelle (Buddy) Julick of Cayuga and Robert (Kari) Morgan of Williamsport; grandchildren Bailee Mitchell and Cole Julick; his siblings Joanna (Karl) Kinneer, Chuckie, Jeannie, Terry, & Kimmy Morgan; as well as his niece Mikayla Johnson and nephew Joseph Kinneer.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mike was preceded by his grandson Nick “Chubbs” Ellis and sister Debbie Morgan.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 – 2:00 pm EST on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home’s DeVerter Chapel, located at 215 N. Division Street in Cayuga. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 pm, also at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Thomas Cemetery in Newport next to his wife Kathy following services. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Cayuga Fire Department. Online condolences and fond memories can be shared with his family at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
