Michael 'Mike' A. Packard

Bismarck - Michael "Mike" A. Packard, 56, of Bismarck went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 7, 2017 at 9:21 pm at Hawthorne Inn Nursing Care in Danville, IL Mike was born on April 12, 1960 in Danville, the son of Daniel and Carol (Styer) Packard. He was united in marriage to Sharon Goodall on June 6, 1981 in Danville, and she survives. Survivors include his parents Daniel and Carol Packard of Lakeland, FL, his wife, Sharon Packard, of Bismarck, one son, Michael (Missy) Packard of Bismarck, one daughter, Laura (Andrew) Woodason of Terre Haute, IN, one brother, Jerry Packard of Lakeland, FL, one sister, Tami Reed of Lakeland, FL, as well as three grandchildren, Landen and Loghan Packard of Bismarck and Connor Woodason with another granddaughter on the way (Kinley) of Terre Haute, IN. He also leaves behind many other family members and friends who were near and dear to him. Mike is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents as well as a brother, Danny Packard. Mike adored his wife, Sharon, and they shared many great years together which began in middle school. Mike was a member of Second Church of Christ in Danville and a member of the IEBW Local 538. He was a devoted Christian and an avid reader of his Bible. Mike loved his family immensely. He was an amazing Papa to his grandchildren who lit up his life. Mike served on the Bismarck-Henning School Board, Old Union Church of Christ board, and coached many youth baseball and football teams over the years. He and his son, Michael, were part of a youth football team that won the Super Bowl in 1998. Mike was a diehard St. Louis Cardinals Fan, as his daughter was married at Busch Stadium. He also enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears. Mike loved taking his family on vacations to Busch Stadium and Florida to visit with family and go to the beach. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion Street, Danville, IL. Drew Mentzer will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 PM Friday, February 10, 2017 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Second Church of Christ in Danville, IL or Presence United Samaritans Foundation Cancer Center.
