Danville- Michael Lee Wheeler, 47, of Danville passed away at 2:20 PM on Monday, October 29, 2012 at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home in Danville. He was born on June, 24, 1965 in Elmhurst, IL to Herbert Thomas and Susan Claire Mahony Wheeler. Surviving are his mother and step-father, Susan (Richard) Christenson; father and step-mother, Herbert Thomas (Fran) Wheeler; cousins Colleen (Don) LoConte and their children, Delaney and Regan LoConte, Mike Christenson, Courtney Christenson, Jeff Bebar, Tammi and Bobby Willey, and Crissie Rounds; two aunts, Linda Bebar and Carol Willey; three uncles, Len Mahony, Ken Christenson, and Roger Wheeler; step-sisters Gilda Christenson and Dawn Nowak; special-friends, Sherry (Jeff) Jones, Sandy (Dennis) Hamer, Missy Sims, and Patrick and Roxann Sladky, Chuck Schwietzer, Anne and Dave Tienter, Dick and Teri Terry, Sharon Merdovic, Kathy Yurks and Diane Catomer; and his special dog, Maria. He was preceded in death by grandparents Joseph and Myrtle Mahony, Herbert and Gladys Wheeler, and Elizabeth and Lyle Christenson, and a cousin, Joseph Patrick Mahony. Michael attended Deer Valley High and College of DuPage, and was a master pizza chef at Mustard's Last Stand. He was an avid music fan and especially enjoyed making mix cd's of people's favorite music. Michael was a quick learner and good at working with his hands. He became adept at carpentry and painting among other talents. Michael also had a great love for animals and for socializing with friends and family. He was an extremely honest, dedicated, and gentle giant. A Mass of Christian Burial for Michael Wheeler will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Danville. Father Ted Pracz will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville is in charge of arrangements. Memorials in Michael's name may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church.
