Danville- Michael Kenneth Nixon, 58, of Danville passed away at 9:32 PM on Friday, April 29, 2011 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. He was born August 27, 1952 to Mary Jane and Kenneth Nixon. He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Jane, his two grandfathers Kenneth Nixon Senior and Harlan Hogue, and also his two grandmothers Edith Hogue and Donna Bell Marie Nixon. He is survived by his wife Gloria, daughter Samantha Nixon, father Kenneth Nixon, and step-children Trista and Wesley Watkins. Also surviving are his sister Pamela K. Nixon West, three nephews Sean Boyer, Shane Boyer, and John Williams, niece Heather Bladel and 12 great nieces and nephews, Zachary, Tyler, Amber, Haeley, Ashley, Riley, Hunter and Wyatt Boyer, and Alexi, Hunter, Caleb, and Skyler Bladel. Micheal attended Trinity Lutheran grade school and graduated from Danville High School in 1971. He worked for the city of Danville Parks Department and the Street Department for eight years. He was employed by CSX railroad for the past 20 years as an engineer. Michael was an avid fisherman and he could spend hours fishing for bass on any lake or pond in the state of Illinois. He was always accompanied on his fishing trips with his loyal dog Bubba and or his father who started him fishing at the age of four. Michael will be sadly missed by his family and his loyal good buddy Bubba, who enjoyed fishing with him so much. A service to celebrate the life of Michael K. Nixon will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery in Danville. Visitation will be held from 1-2 PM prior to the service on Wednesday also at Sunset. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
