Michael G. Wright

Cayuga, Ind. - Michael 'Mike' Gene Wright, 65, passed away unexpectedly at his childhood home in Cayuga on Monday afternoon November 25, 2019. He is immeasurably missed by his family and friends.

Born on October 30, 1954, to Russell Gene Wright and Janine Marie (Turner), he was preceded in death by both parents and a sister, Michele 'Mitzi'. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Laura (Jason) Gilbert and Adrian (Luke) Cottle, three sisters, Margie (Tim) Faircloth, Teresa (Don) Morgan, and Susan Powell, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friend, Cheryl.

Perhaps the biggest blessings in his life were his three grandkids (Austin, Alexander, and Ava) who knew him as their beloved Papa Mike.

Armed with a pun, Mike could light up a room with his quick wit and unmatched sense of humor. His comedic talent was evident early on as he began selling 'cootie insurance' policies to his grade school classmates.

Mikes early career included jobs at the Grab It Here grocery, Inland Container, and Wrights Ice Cream, all in Cayuga. He later worked for Lauhoff Grain, then began working one of his favorite jobs at Daniels Furniture in Danville. However, it wasnt until he took a position with Koehn Motors that he found his true calling. His outgoing personality made him an instant success as a car salesman for more than two decades.

Mike loved the Indiana Hoosiers, Cincinnati Reds and Green Bay Packers, and could often be heard coaching them from his living room recliner. He loved mowing his lawn and feeding the hummingbirds. If you knew him well, you likely heard unforgettable stories about concerts he attended in the 70s and 80s. Mike passed his impeccable taste in music along to his daughters, who firmly believe that their Pops has gone on to become 'DJ Mad Mike' in the sky.

Memorial Service: 2 p.m. EST Sunday, December 1, 2019 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. Jon Overbey; Visitation: 1 p.m. EST until time of services at the funeral home.
