Michael Everett Williams

Michael Everett Williams I “Big Mike” passed away on January 26, 2015. He was preceded in death by parents, Marie Williams and Bob Everett Stanley Williams, and his wife, Marsha K. Williams, who passed away in 2011. He is survived by his sister, Pamela Andrews; son, Michael Everett Williams II; his first wife, whom he remained close with, Gloria Mariage, and their children, Donette Harris, Michael Wayne Williams, and Eric Williams; grandchildren, Michael Everett Williams III, Autumn Pettigrew, Hayden Williams, Miriah Burton, Merissa Burton; one great-grandchild, Dalton Pankow; as well as two nieces, Karen Monroe-Porter and Kathleen Brewer. Mike was an avid Cincinnati Reds baseball fan, especially when playing Robert Revellos Cardinals. He loved to drink highballs with his friend Chucky Paxton. Big Mike also loved to play cards, horseshoes, and croquette in the yard, which was the funniest thing youve ever seen, with his friends Jerry Spezia, Steve “Fatty” Paxton, Buck Kantout, Brother Wright, the late Rat Ritter, and too many others to list. He also liked to hang out at Julees Shooting Star with his favorite bar owner, Julee Gay. Mike was honorably discharged with a Purple Heart award after two voluntary tours of Vietnam. He drove a semi-truck for nearly 40 years until he was “retired”. However you may have known Big Mike, most would agree that the size of his character and heart were bigger than he was in life. The man will be missed by so many and yet never forgotten. Rest in peace Big Guy, love you. A Celebration of Mikes life will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, January 30, 2015 at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel in Westville. Pastor Phil Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at Danville National Cemetery. Military honors will be performed by the Westville American Legion Post #57. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the funeral home. Please join Mikes family in sharing memories on his tribute wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
