Michael E. Davis Jr., 46, of Westville, was born on December 2, 1973 in Danville IL, lost his long 8-year battle with cancer on April 18, 2020 at 6:00pm. He passed peacefully at his home surrounded by those that love him.
His family meant more to him than anything. Michael enjoyed playing baseball, football, and helping his grandpa on the farm as a child. He graduated from Nurnberg American High School of Germany in 1991 and graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering at SIU in 2004. He was a genuine kind person and anyone who knew him came to love him easily.
Michael was a member of the Morey Chapel Church in Westville IL. He enjoyed traveling, music, golf, spending time with his grandchildren, raising his children and dogs, he especially had a fondness for his bulldogs. Michael was a huge Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. He worked at Thyssenkrupp for over 20 years.
Michaels favorite quote was, "If youre not the lead dog, the view never changes." Michael was a member of Unity Lodge #344, Perrysville IN, where he was serving his first year as an appointed officer.
He married Lisa (Mills) Davis on August 10, 2019, she survives. He will also be dearly missed by his parents, Michael Sr and Denise Davis; his siblings, Melissa (Jason) and Marcus, his wife Lisa Davis, and their seven children, Kyle (Rosey), Mitchell (Abby), Aurora (Courtney), Sierra, Selena, Dillon, and Lydia. Along with nine grandchildren, one niece, and four nephews. He was preceded in death by both sets of his grandparents and his uncle Kevin.
Due to coronavirus restrictions, visitation will be private. A Graveside service will be held at Sandusky Cemetery, Westville, IL at 2:00pm, Wednesday, April 22, 2020, family members and friends are welcome (with 6-feet social distancing rules to be observed between attendees). Pastor Kevin Cox will officiate. His family has entrusted his arrangements to Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Westville, Illinois 414 S State St. Westville, Illinois 61883. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society.
