Michael Carl Hepburn, 66, of Georgetown, IL went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born August 29, 1949 in Danville, IL, the son of Carl and Geneva Hepburn. He married Debra Curl on November 17, 1984 in Georgetown, IL. She survives. Other survivors include: his mother, Geneva Hepburn; his sons, Andy (Emily) Hepburn of Pewaukee, WI, Aaron (Carrie) Hepburn of St. Charles, MO, Allen (Kyra) Hepburn of Anderson, IN; his daughter, Stephanie Hepburn (James Grider) of Georgetown, IL; his son, Eric Hepburn of Georgetown; 10 Grandchildren, Logan, Alex, Katie, Lauren, Noah, James, Simon, Triston, Austin, and Vivian; his brothers, Larry (Lynn) Hepburn of Westville, IL, Randy Hepburn of Olivet, IL; his sister, Cyndi Kegley (Art Meyers) of Indianapolis; and many Uncles, Aunts, and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Hepburn, and his grandparents. Mike was a brick mason, working with his father and brothers for many years, was self-employed as a general contractor and later worked at Berry's Garden Center constructing hard-scapes and landscaping. He was very active in his Community and Church. He graduated from Georgetown High School in 1968 and spent the next 48 years giving back to the community. Over the years he served on the School Booster Club, The Jaycee's, The Georgetown Youth Football board and coached many youth sports teams. He dedicated over 35 years to Scouting in Georgetown for both pack 216 and Boy Scout Troop 287 as the Scout Master. He earned The Silver Beaver Award, the highest honor you can earn for Servitude in Scouting. He was particularly proud of the 19 young men who achieved Eagle Scout during his tenure as Scout Master. Mike attended and was a dedicated member of Bethel Baptist Church of Georgetown, where he served as a Trustee to the church and taught the Adult Sunday School class for the past 20 years. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, mushroom hunting, spending time with his family and his church family. He was an avid fan of Georgetown and Illinois sports and enjoyed talking football, softball and basketball with all that would listen. Mike was loved very much and will be missed by all. A celebration of Mike's life will be held at 10:00am, Friday, March 18, 2016 at Bethel Baptist Church, Georgetown, with Pastor Aaron Rhode and Pastor Scott Randolph officiating. Visitation will be from 4pm-8pm, Thursday, March 17, 2016, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown. He will be laid to rest in Forest Park Cemetery, Georgetown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Mike Hepburn Scholarship Fund c/o Bethel Baptist Church which helps children attend church camp through Camp Assurance. The family would like to thank Carle Hospice for their compassionate care.
