Merrill Crippin, 75, of Westville passed away on July 17, 2021 at Carle Hospital in Urbana. Merrill was born April 25, 1946 the son of Glen and Madge (McClure) Crippin in Danville, IL. Merrill married Carole Furman-Clem on November 30, 1991. She survives.

Also surviving Merrill are two step-daughters, Leslea (Tim) Thompson of Georgetown and Lisa Clem (Robert Walters) of Hoopeston, six grandchildren - Aaron and Hannah Thompson, Zachariah and Paige Lewallen, Chloe and Isabella Weber; one brother Larry (Jeanne) Crippin; one sister-in-law, Linda (Larry) Betout; nephews - Grady, Kyle, David, and Larry David; nieces - Rachel, Lisa, and Amy, and Diana. Merrill also enjoyed his beloved dogs; Butkus the St Bernard, Rusty the "Spanchowhound" and Rosie-Posie

Merrill was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Nyla and infant sister Carol.

Merrill was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where he enjoyed hearing Pastor Aaron Rohde deliver Gods message and the late Pastor Ray Silvers wife, Joan's object lessons. He was a hard worker and drove a tanker semi for 25 years for Transport Services. Merrill loved his family and spending time with them. He enjoyed grilling out, gardening, mowing the yard, golfing and watching his favorite football team, Green Bay Packers play. He fancied himself a culinary wizard

A Celebration of Merrills life will be at 11am on Friday July 23, 2021 at Bethel Baptist Church 501 South Main street Georgetown, IL. with Pastor Aaron Rohde officiating. Burial will follow at Danville National Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Donations in Merrills memory can be made to the Vermilion County Animal Shelter, the National Arbor Day Foundation, or the Bethel Baptist Missions fund. Merrills family has entrusted Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Westville with arrangements.
