Perrysville, Ind. -- Merle Scott, 79, of Perrysville, went home to Jesus at 11:45 p.m. EST Saturday, January 23, 2010 at home with his family at his bedside. He was born August 13, 1930 in Rossville, Illinois, the son of the late Claude and Tammie Miller Scott. He married Judith Wilson on November 27, 1958 in Perrysville, Indiana. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Colleen(Tracey)Osborn and Tammy(Mike Earlywine)Scott both of Perrysville, Indiana; two sons, Daniel(Beth)Scott of Covington, Indiana and Patrick(Jennifer)Scott of Perrysville, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Ashlie Scott, Cody Scott, Brittany(Nathan)Ping, Farren Osborn, Thomas Osborn, Luke Osborn, Sydnee Scott and Noah Scott all of Perrysville, Indiana; two sisters, Ruth Dewing of Kentland, Indiana and Irene Lowe of Watseka, Illinois; one brother, Earl(Rosemary)Scott of Joliet, Illinois; father-in-law, Ralph Wilson of Perrysville, Indiana; brother and sister-in-law, Bob(Marlene)Wilson of Covington, Indiana; several nieces and nephews; his dogs, Tipper and Annie. He was preceded in death by two sisters; four brothers and his mother-in-law, Madaline Wilson. Merle graduated from Stockland (Ill.) High School in 1948. He then served in the United States Navy during the Korean War from December 12, 1950 to October 7, 1954 on the USS Macomb. After serving his country Merle went to work at Olin/Flexel retiring after over thirty years. He later went to work for Community Action retiring this last year. He also worked part-time at Liberty Hardware. Merle was an active member of the Perrysville United Methodist Church, Walter Hoyt Post 350 of Perrysville serving as Vice Commander and the Perrysville Lions Club. He also served on the Perrysville Town Board for many years. Merle was a past member of the Gideons. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, his old farm tractors, NASCAR, Indianapolis Colts football and Chicago Cubs baseball. Merle and his buddy, Al Adams would spend summers at his fishing cabin in Wisconsin near Lake Angus. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Merle will be missed by his many friends from work and the community. Funeral services: 2 p.m. EST Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at the Perrysville United Methodist Church; Offciating: Rev. Larry Stoops and Pastor Duane L. Mycroft; Burial: Lower Mound Cemetery north of Perrysville, Indiana with military graveside rites by the Walter Hoyt Post 350 of Perrysville; Visitation: 11 a.m. EST until time of services Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at the church.
