Merle A. Miller, 68, of Danville passed away on June 7, 2019 peacefully at his home.
He was born in Danville on January 19, 1951 the son of Kenneth Sr. and Elva (Skinner) Miller. He married Meredith Bowles on February 26, 1971 and she still survives.
Merle will be deeply missed by his wife, Kay, daughters, Dawn (Victor) Vanvalkenburg of Danville and Bobbie (Steven) Donalson of Murphy, TX, brother, Kenneth (Mary) Miller of Oakwood, sister-in-law, Linda Miller of Danville, grandchildren, Christian (Kaytlyn) Donalson and Brett (Allisa Hendrickson), great grandchildren; Emma, Ava and Brantley.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, David Miller.
Merle was a deputy sheriff for Vermilion County for many years before he retired. Early in his life he was a bricklayer with his father and uncles. He started the first ever Vermilion County Dive Team and also did taxidermy on the side. Merle was an avid hunter and fisherman which brought along being a great cook and baker. He loved spending time in the outdoors with his family and many friends. He was a member of the Oakwood Pollywogs and a Chicago Bears fan. The girls at the courthouse will miss his good Polo cologne smell as he walked in.
A celebration of life visitation for Merle will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 from 4-8 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 North Vermilion St. Danville, IL 61834.
