Melvin Quinn Rose, 80, of Cayuga, IN, passed away October 5, 2023, at IU Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, IN. He Was born June 2, 1943, in Newman, Illinois, the son of Melvin Austin and Edith Merle {Smith} Rose. He first married Carolyn Conrad. Quinn later married Karon Crippin. Then he married Ramona Monie J. Delp, until her passing on July 31, 2013.
He is survived by his daughters, Roxanna Kight of Covington, and Quinnette (Danny) Mullins of Bismarck, IL; his son, Darren (Linda) Rose of Mahomet, IL; his three stepchildren; three grandchildren; Ted (Amber) Robertson. Alexis (Cody) Rice and Ryan Mullins and three step grandchildren: three great grandchildren; and several step great grandchildren: his sisters, Kay White, Cheryl (Jim) Wilson, both of Ridge Farm, and Donna (Bobby) Dieu of Georgetown; his brothers, Reese Rose of Omaha, NE, Russell (Barb) Rose, and Bobby Rose, both of Georgetown, Barry Rose of Arcola, IL, and Scott Rose of Georgetown; as well as several nieces and nephews. Quinns best friend for over forty years Gerald Uplinger. A special thank you to his care giver Kim. He was preceded in death by his parents, son in law Steve Kight, his brother, Danny Rose.
Quinn retired from the Vermilion County Highway Department in 2005. He was a proud Veteran of the US Army serving during the Vietnam War. Quinn attended the Cayuga Christian Church. He was a member of the Cayuga American Legion Post #263. He enjoyed mowing, gardening, riding his golfcart around Cayuga and visiting friends, raising chickens and rabbits, and coon hunting. He was also a fan of the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears.
A celebration of Melvins life will be held at 11 am est. on Thursday October 12, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, DeVerter Chapel, 215 N. Division Street, Cayuga, IN 47928. Visitation will be held from 4pm to 8pm est. on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Danville National Cemetery in Danville, IL. with Military Honors.
