Melvin T. Hamick ,92, of Tyler, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 7,2017. He had been in good health and active until two days before his death. He was born May 26, 1924 to Leroy Hamick and Ella Thomas of Danville, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sarah E. Hamick and two siblings, Elwood Hamick and Lawrence Hamick. He considered himself a lifelong resident of Danville although he lived in State Line ,IN for several years. They moved to Tyler, TX. about six years ago at the urging of their daughter. He retired from Danville School District 118 in 1983 after serving many years as the custodian at Edison School. He and Sarah were married for 72 years and had a long and loving relationship. They raised two children, Nancy Hamick Dubre of Tyler, TX. and David Hamick of Danville.IL. The extended family includes three grandchildren, Amy Hamick of Danville, Chris Hamick of Fernandina, FL. and Scott (Vandy) Dubre of Tyler, TX. Great grandchildren are Emery Dubre, Annan Dubre, Maillie Dubre of Tyler, TX. and Ashley Constans of Danville, IL. Melvin will be remembered for his faithfulness, down to earth common-sense, sense of humor and his willingness to help others. He was a mechanic, carpenter, electrician, plumber, gardener and all around Mr. Fix-it . He was known to his nieces and nephews as Uncle Red. He will be cherished forever as a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle. The family will receive friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 3:00 on May 13,2017 at Sunset Funeral Home in Danville, IL at 3940 N. Vermilion Street.
