Melvin E. Langford

Danville Melvin E. Langford, 74, of Danville passed away at 12:55 AM on May 2, 2021 at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville, IL.

Melvin was born on September 10, 1946 the son of Willis E and Mildred (Edenburn) Langford in Danville, IL.

Survivors include his daughter, Erika Langford of Danville, IL, one sister, Marla (Jay) Langford-Garrett of Danville, IL, and one grandson, Joshua Layton Eugene Langford of Danville, IL.

Melvin is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marilyn Langford-Anker.

Melvin proudly served his country in the United Stated Army with the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions during the Vietnam War. After his service in the Army, he worked at the Illiana Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Danville until his retirement. As an avid outdoorsman and conservationist, Melvin enjoyed spending his freetime hunting, fishing, and simply being outdoors.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N Vermilion St., Danville, Illinois 61834. Bill Fulton will officiate. Burial will be in Danville National Cemetery with Military Rites accorded by American Legion Post 210. Visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00 AM on Tuesday May 11, 2021 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Activities Fund for Veterans at the Illiana Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Danville, IL.
