Melvin Dean White

Melvin White, 93, went to be with his heavenly father on July 6, 2021. He was born on January 10, 1928, the son of Cecil and Bernice (Turner) White in Danville.

Melvin is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Dodson) White; daughter, Karen (Michael) Turner; three grandchildren, Kimberly (Timothy) Bleigh, Michael Turner, and Jacob (Maysa Zackmire) Turner; two great granddaughters, Abbigail and Gwendolynn; two sisters, Beverly Joan Huls and Shirley Culver; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Melvin is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, James White, Donald White, and Roy White; one infant brother; one infant sister; and brothers in law, Eugene Huls and Bill Culver.

Melvin and Phyllis were married on October 27, 1950, and they had celebrated their 70th anniversary. Melvins hobbies included riding motorcycles, camping, and was an avid fisherman. He also took pride in his gardening. Melvin especially loved and enjoyed his family, he always smiled when his family came by to see him.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Officiating will be Rev. Timothy Bleigh. A private burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation will be held just prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in Melvins name to Camp Assurance, at 8364 County Rd 2100 E, Georgetown, IL 61846.
