MELVIN DALE DAY Melvin Dale Day, 63, of Danville, passed away at 5:36 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2009 at home. Melvin was born on February 9, 1946 in Danville, the son of Ernest Clifford and Eileen Dexter (Gritton) Day. He married Linda Sue Brain on December 1, 1968 in Alvin. She survives. He is also survived by his mother- Eileen Day of Hoopeston; one daughter- Beth (Mark) Juvinall of Danville; two sons- Matthew (Juany) Day of Danville and Mark Day of Duluth, Minnesota; one sister- Marie (Steve) Thornsbrough of Rossville; and three grandchildren- Andrew and Anthony Juvinall and Ahmani Salinas. He was preceded in death by his father. Melvin graduated from Danville High School in 1964. After high school, he attended Bob Jones University and Central Seminary. Melvin worked as a manager at various shoe stores in Danville. He most recently worked at Wal-Mart, in the shoe department. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Danville and was the Sunday School Class Treasurer. He was also a member of the Champaign Fish Club. Melvin enjoyed tropical fish, fantasy sports, model railroading, fishing, playing games, emailing jokes and reading the Pickles comic strips. A Celebration of the Life of Melvin Dale Day will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, with Pastor Jerry Cummins officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gundy Cemetery following the service.
